About THC
THE JOURNEY
In the spring of 1993, I started THC in a basement in West Los Angeles.
It began as a streetwear clothing line—tees and hoodies, jackets and jeans, hats and beanies, backpacks and belts, lighters and dolls, and a whole lot of stickers and patches.
Back then, weed was still illegal, and you could get into real trouble just for wearing a leaf.
But everyone knew what THC meant—because everyone smoked.
If you wore a THC shirt, the people who knew… knew.
We designed our first line for Spring/Summer 1993 and took it on the road—trade shows in San Diego, Long Beach, New York, and Las Vegas—looking for customers.
We found them.
Before long, we were selling into hundreds of street boutiques around the world.
Our marketing strategy was simple: show up, stand out, and hand out loaded sneak-a-tokes to the buyers.
As the leading marijuana-inspired brand in Los Angeles at the time, we were deeply involved in the Proposition 215 movement to legalize medical marijuana in California.
On November 5, 1996, history changed when Prop 215 passed.
THC was there.
Around that same time, a friend of a friend who worked at AOL told me to buy the domain thc.com.
So I did.
That decision is why you’re here reading this now.
It’s been a 30+ year journey—one I wouldn’t trade for anything.
And we’re just getting started.
I believe there are hundreds of millions of smokers around the world.
The goal is to bring them together—to build a real community—and to use thc.com as the vessel for that movement.
Peace & Love,
Ramsey
